Bao Brewhouse is a stellar spot to kick off a weekend and we just visited for a double date night. We sat upstairs in the Tea Room and got our weekend started with the DJ (the Tea Room has a DJ every night they are open). The Tea Room's menu & ambiance satisfied our adventurous palates with Chinese inspired plates & decor. Service was solid and GM Taylor & server Caleb ensured we had everything we needed while we dined. We started with some creative craft cocktails. The Lucky Dragon came in the coolest dragon cup that could be purchased along with the drink. We had a family style dinner & enjoyed several starters & dim sum plates, including steamed barbecue pork bao buns, tuna poke, Kobe beef dumpling, & pork soup dumplings. The Char Sui Bao were made with steamed barbecue pork bao bun, oyster sauce, scallion, daikon sprouts, furikake seasoning, & sambal hoisin. The buns were nice & fluffy. The Tuna Poke was light & fresh. The Kobe Beef Dumplings were made with ground Kobe beef, crispy onions, scallion, furikake seasoning, & miso Mongolian sauce. The Kobe beef made for savory bites. The Pork Xiao Long Bao was made with pork soup dumplings, sweet black vinegar, & chili oil (I loved these). For entrees we had the Short Rib Spicy Noodle which was so good. The Short Rib Spicy Noodle was made with lup cheong (Chinese sausage), garlic, ginger, scallion, baby boy-choy, tri-color peppers, fresno chili, Thai basil, pistachio, sambal hoisin, cilantro, daikon sprouts, miso Mongolian sauce. The short rib was so tender & juicy and fell apart the minute we tried to pick it up. This dish had a spicy kick to. For dessert we had Crème Brûlée Cheesecake & a Deconstructed Key Lime Pie. My favorite was the Key Lime Pie.
This was a beautiful mistake. The last time we came, this used to be a different restaurant but however came in and gave it a chance and it was and it was absolutely amazing. Every drink was delicious and every item was so beautifully delightful. Great happy hour and I didn't see the upstairs but there's a different menu and a little more elevated service but if it was like anything like the service we got today consider me IN! I'm not sure who exactly was our assign server but it seemed like everyone was working together which was a great surprised in it self to see everyone just super hospitable. Lina the manager checked up on Our table to ensure we were enjoying our time which was refreshing because it's rare to see a Manager come to my table and reassure everything was great. This is a must right next to the DCPA the ball arena if your going to a show before or after
If you want to dress up and dine out for date night in Denver, I found the perfect place. This Dim Sum, Asian Fusion Bar has a DJ that spins in the evenings, Thursday - Sunday and the moody lighting gives this spot a swanky vibe! We visited Băo Brewhouse on Friday for dinner and sat at the bar in the upstairs Tea Room. The downstairs of Băo Brewhouse is a Tap Room where you can enjoy street food & beers on tap while the Tea Room upstairs is a more boujee, curated concept with authentic Chinese dishes & creative cocktails. The Tea Room is where the DJ spins. My fiance and I shared a couple of appetizers including the DIY Veggie Rolls and the EV-erything Mushroom Dumplings. The DIY Lettuce Wrap Veggie Roll comes with bibb lettuce, cilantro, jalapeno, Thai basil, pickled Bao vegetables, tri-color fresno peppers, daikon sprouts, treasure sauce, and Chinese mustard. These were not only tasty, but fun to customize! This appetizer was a big hit and we'll order this again in the future. The EV-erything Mushroom Dumplings are made with shiitake mushrooms, tofu, cabbage, carrots, water chestnuts, green onions, cilantro, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. The appetizer came with 5 dumplings and we appreciated that Băo Brewhouse offers a vegetarian appetizer. For entrees, we ordered the Governor Baozhen's Fried Rice and the Whole Fried Snapper. The Governor Baozhen's is made with a mushroom mix, shishito peppers, scallions, fried rice, pistachio, daikon sprouts, try-color peppers, furikake seasoning, garlic, ginger, sambal hoisin and kung pao sauce. This entree has a generous portion size and left us with leftovers. We enjoyed this fried rice and would order again. The Whole Fried Snapper was definitely the star of the show with its enormous portion size, enough for more than 2. The Snapper had a kick, but was not overly spicy. The exterior of the snapper was majorly fried adding some delicious crunch while the interior of the snapper was tender and flaky. Although we typically reserve a table, sitting at this bar was fun and entertaining. Our bartender was very knowledgable with the menu guiding us on what to order from drinks to bites, alongside our dietary preferences. He convinced us to order dessert and it did not disappoint. Pictured is the Chocolate Crepe Cake and the Creme Brulee Cheesecake with salted caramel gelato. I'd recommend the crepe cake over the cheesecake if I had to choose one, but both were delicious! Overall, our experience at Băo Brewhouse was positive and we had a great time! We'll certainly be returning in the future to try more of the menu.
Eclectic decor with humor makes for a fun spot, especially the giant dragon that adorns the duct work on the ceiling in the taproom. Service was friendly but a little spotty. We ordered the HH DIY Lettuce wraps and asked to add meat. We waited for our flank steak and had to remind our waitress about it when it didn't arrive. She apologized and comped the meat (the receipt said "Unsatisfied Guest". We weren't unsatisfied, we just wondered where's the beef?) Soup dumplings have good flavor and the shishitos and brussels was a plentiful portion and way too much for two people. The Dancing Dragon cocktail comes in a fun tiki glass to take home. Happy Hour runs from 3-5pm with both cocktail and food specials. All seating in the taproom is high top with stools. There is also a tea room upstairs with a different, more formal menu.
My boyfriend booked us reservations in the Tea Room to celebrate my big book signing over the weekend. The staff greeted us with champagne which was a lovely surprise and treat. The atmosphere was trendy and inviting. I do love a spot with cool artwork and lights. This has a very cozy feel even with the DJ playing. The Tea Room itself was perfect and we sat at a small two-top. Our menu for the evening: -Pork Xiao Long Bao x2 (so good. We were going for the bao buns specifically but its the same dough and was delicious) -Salt & Pepper Tiger Prawns (MY GOSH. I keep thinking about these.) -Short Rib Spicy Noodle (Yummy!) The food was fantastic! I really wish we had something like this in Charleston, SC because it would do incredible. We ended the evening with two different teas. I believe my boyfriend got the Ginger Refresh and I had the Desert Rose Tea. I would solely go back to Denver just to ear here again.
I don't go out of my way for dumplings, but Bao showed up on my Instagram and my friend from out of town also saw the advertisement and wanted to go. It did not disappoint. When you walk in, the decorations are pop art chic mixed with some street art vibes. It makes it feel like I'm walking into a secret local dumpling spot where all the cool kids go. The server was so nice and helped us navigate the menu. We got the lychee cocktail, and it was so good. The dumplings came out pretty fast, and they were all hot and tasty! As we ate, our food came. The cheese rangoons were so delicious and done differently. The toppings and flavors were so good!
Find Your Chi drink was delicious and refreshing as a mocktail. You have the option to add liquor. Char siu bao (3 per order) was okay. The sauce was yummy. Big on the Pig was delicious. Very flavorful. Half order of Peking duck was unbelievable. Crispy duck and a heaping of vegetables. That sauce to go was also incredible. The space is large and busy. It is such a vibe for groups.
This is the perfect date night spot! The ambiance is cute and the restaurant itself is very unique! We dined upstairs and will need to come back and try out the downstairs as they have different menus from what we heard! This is more of a family style kind of restaurant where you share meals. I went with one other friend and between the two of us, we got the cheese rangoons, big on the pig, char sui bao, and short rib spicy noodles. Everything was delicious, there wasn't one thing we didn't like! Our favorite was the big on the pig! This place is super cool, has friendly staff, and amazing food. I will definitely be coming back!
Really great dinner in the taproom tonight! It's convenient that you can sit wherever and order from a QR code. The waiter doesn't take your order but stopped by to refill our water and check on us which was nice-- we didn't struggle to flag anyone down. The music wasn't too loud so it's good for conversation but still vibeeeey. Really Vegan and vegetarian friendly. Vegan hot and sour soup was super good & not spicy if that's a concern for you. really good portions for the price. I was so full after all the brussel sprouts (so good) that I could barely eat half of my noodle dish-- drunken empress. I really liked the taste especially with the pork belly i added, but the noodles were a little tough for me, like I really had to chew. Not a big deal though just something I noticed! We got the chun-li & the dancing dragon cocktails and both were so good. I would definitely come back here just for some drinks-- it's casual and fairly priced ($13 cocktails isn't bad in Denver!) Overall had a great experience and will return, especially since the upstairs is apparently a whole different vibe & menu.
Bao Brewhouse is the perfect location for girl's night, date night, birthday celebration, etc! The vibes are immaculate and moody with beautiful red lanterns, a dj, and sunset views. This time there were three of us, so we shared several dishes and a bottle of sake. They have BOGO dumplings (hell yeah), so we ordered two pork, the beef, and the spicier ones. We also ordered the short rib noddles and they were our favorite. The short rib was melt in your mouth and the sauce on the noodles was addicting. We had reservations for 6;30 on Tuesday night and they were still pretty busy! Be prepared to relax and settle in for a bit. I do recommend ordering all your food at once though since it takes a little bit to be served. You can always order more as you go though! The price is a little higher end but really not bad due to the BOGO and us splitting sake and noodles. Definitely recommend!
